Ways to Donate
We are working in Tanzania because we believe that hope and dignity are not commodities reserved to the global elite – they are fundamental human rights, deserved by all.
Our commitment to improving cancer care in northern Tanzania lives through the generosity of our donors, volunteers and advocates. Every contribution–whether it’s a little time or a lot of money–helps to ensure that the 3,600 northern Tanzanians diagnosed with cancer each year have access to the quality care that is their right.
- The World Health Organization reported that 80% of Tanzanians diagnosed with cancer will die – often a long and painful death.
- About a third of these cancers could be prevented if they lived in a high-income country.
- Another third could be treated effectively if diagnosed early.
Very simply, your support will help save lives.
Ways to Donate
You can make a secure online donation and choose from a one-time or recurring gift. Consider making your gift in honor of a special occasion of someone who would appreciate knowing their gift helped provide other people with access to quality cancer care. “Tribute” gifts can be made in memory of a loved one, or in celebration of birthdays, retirements, cancer survivor milestones, or other honorary occasions.
You can also mail in your donation to: 5101 Vernon Ave S, Suite 501, Edina, MN 55436. Please make your check payable to FCCT.
You can gift securities (including stocks) or mutual funds that have appreciated in value. Gifts of publicly traded securities provide a double tax benefit. You can avoid a capital gains tax on appreciated securities, and you can receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the securities. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your specific situation.
Call us at (612) 845-0758 to notify us of your intent, and we will walk you through the simple transfer form with the FCCT account information you will need to provide to your broker.
If you are 70 ½ or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 to Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania tax-free each year – even if that’s more than your required minimum distribution (RMD). If you are required to a take a minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA, please consider us as a charitable giving partner.
If you make a direct transfer from your IRA to FCCT, you get to count that money toward your RMD — and because it’s not actually distributed to you, it won’t increase your adjusted gross income.
Please consult with your financial advisor for your own personal benefits.
Note: If you make a tax-free transfer from your IRA to a charity, you cannot also deduct that money as a charitable contribution. If that is your goal, take the withdrawal yourself and then make the donation to FCCT.
Many companies have programs through which they will "match" the charitable contributions made by their employees. Through corporate gift matching, your employer can multiply your gift to FCCT, making it go further.
If your employer offers this program, it may be administered through an online employee giving site or they can provide you a matching gift form to send to FCCT along with your donation.
